Sen. Barbara Boxer Protects Bike, Pedestrian, And Public Transportation Funding

Sen. Barbara Boxer

Dear Sen. Barbara Boxer,

Thank you for fighting for bicyclists, pedestrians, and public transportation users in the latest Federal Transportation Bill.

I do not support Sen. Tom Coburn‘s efforts to strip funding for projects such as bike paths or sidewalks.

Please keep up the good fight.

P.S. If other people get a chance, please say thanks to Sen. Boxer (courtesy of TransForm).

Must Be Bold To Use Crosswalk In Vietnam

Vietnam Streets

For residents and visitors of Vietnam alike, one must be bold to walk in a crosswalk.

Fortunately, the man in the video successfully crosses the very busy street. Many others are not so fortunate as “road traffic injuries were the leading cause of injury death with a mortality rate of 15 per 100,000 population” (2007).

It will only get worse as more residents gain access to motor vehicles. Adherence and enforcement of traffic laws would do wonders at keeping drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians safe. Otherwise, one must be diligent when crossing the street.

UPDATE: Below is a cool two minute video of traffic in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam played to Looper’s “Mondo’77”.
