I was able to attend last Sunday’s festivities at this year’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, held every year in San Francisco’s beautiful Golden Gate Park.
Since the annual music festival is FREE, organizers and public officials recommended any transportation mode other than driving. Judging by the sheer amount of available bike parking spaces, I would say that biking was a very popular transportation mode for festivalgoers traveling to Golden Gate Park.
See bike parking spaces around NOON. There were some noticeable available slots.
And see bike parking spaces around 4PM.
Even at the end of the dozens of rows of temporary bike parking, there were very few open slots. And one could argue that organizers could have provided more. Just something to consider for next year (October 5-7, 2012).
